Ramsomware gets even more nasty

If you didn’t see our last post about Ramsomware and why you should care, see it here!  https://www.denvertechservices.com/ransomware-why-you-need-to-care/.  Now that you’ve checked that out, we’ll tell you, it gets worse!  Below used to be the only ramsomware situation.

You’re sitting at your computer and you opened up that email you know you shouldn’t have.  Now on your screen is a message that tells you it has encrypted all of your files.  Meaning you won’t be able to see them or access them.  This message tells you that you need to pay an “ransom” amount (usually $500-$1000) to a 3rd party.  Then it gives you a timer, usually a few days.  What do you do?

That used to be all Ramsomware was, where it was either pay up and get your stuff back, or don’t pay up and lose all your files.  Now there’s a variant that does the same as above, except it gives you a 2nd choice.  So now again, I must ask you…

Now of course, they’re betting that you have 2 emails of people you dislike that much.  Is it worth it?  Of course we’re going to say no, but you know there’s people out there who will bite.
